COMMUNITY SERVICE
Reaching out into our communities is vital to our organization, developing relationships with community leaders, media, school faculty and local civic groups can greatly assist each post in achieving the VFW mission.
The Kennewick VFW has deep roots in our local community. We are members of the Tri-Cities Regional Chamber of Commerce, provide a safe meeting space for Veterans with PTSD or other issues, support our local Navy and Army Junior ROTC programs, and provide a meeting location for the Columbia Basin Young Marines.
Finally, we work with the City of Kennewick and other local organizations such as Mueller’s Funeral Home and the Columbia Basin Vet Center for Veterans Day and Memorial Day programs. We visit our local schools and are engaged in a variety of ceremonies and speaking with Students about what is a Veteran. We participate annually in the Wreaths Across America program in December. We hosted a veteran Roundtable with US Representatives at our Post and annually maintain an outreach at the Veteran Resource Standdown. The Focus of our Post is "SERVICE FIRST” and "Honor the dead by supporting the living.”
